To my kind, loving, wonderful parents...
Family Selfie -Christmas 2014
I constantly complain about my phone battery dying. It can’t
even make it through one day. Then I went home for Christmas break and found
out that no, my battery does not suck, I just talk to my mom way. Too. Much. I
call my parents at least 5 times a day and in between that we’re usually texting.
Say what you want, but I know how unbelievably blessed I am to have such
amazing parents. These are things that go through my mind every day, but I may
not have voiced them. So here they are, to my wonderful parents:
1.
I
appreciate every single thing you have done for me. Nothing has gone unnoticed.
Listening to me complain, helping me pay for school, helping me fix my car,
letting me call at 1am because I’m scared to walk home alone. Sending me
positive cards when I’ve had a rough week. I notice every thing and I
appreciate you for it.
2.
I think
about you every day. I pray for your safety and thank God for giving you to
me.
3. I care about what you think. Yes, I’ve made some decisions that I
knew you wouldn’t love (i.e. lip ring), but I have always cared about what you
think and have considered your reactions in my decisions. That’s why I usually
run my plans by you before acting on them.
4. I wish I lived closer to you. Don’t get
me wrong, I’m not giving up my city lifestyle any time soon, but there are
often days when I have a free hour and just wish we could grab a cup of coffee
or go shopping together.
5. You have made me feel loved every second of
every day for my entire life. There
has never been a moment where I questioned whether or not I had someone who
cared if I existed.
6. I am a strong, confident woman because of
the support you gave me. You
taught me when to back down and when to stand up for myself. You taught me how
to use my voice. You taught me how to have compassion. You taught me how to
make my own decisions. You taught me everything I needed to know to be
successful.
7. Thank-you.
